Dearborn, Dearborn Heights mayors win Tuesday primary

Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly Jr. and Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko got most of the votes in the Tuesday primary that brought no surprises in both cities.

O’Reilly, who has been mayor since 2007, will face Councilman Tom Tafelski in November. O’Reilly received 6,018 votes while Tefelski received 5,266.

Paletko got 48 percent of the votes and will face Councilman Lisa Hicks Clayton who got 32 percent.

The turnout was low as it is expected in both cities.For city clerk, George Thomas Darany and Nofilia Haidar will face off in the general election.

For the City Council, 14 people face off in November, including Robert A. Abraham, Nada Al-Hanooti, Fayrouz Bazzi, David W. Bazzy, Erin Byrnes, Susan A. Dabaja, Sharon Dulmage, Regan Ford, Sean Green, Ramez Haidar, Leslie Herrick, Brian C. O’Donnell, Ken Paris and Michael T. Sareini.
