Fasting is the season for improvement
True faith hinges on change and improvement. Every year, before I start fasting, I contemplate the things I want to change during the month of Ramadan.
I came across some recommendations that I want to implement this year, and I want to share them with you.
It starts with asking myself what I want to be. This is about self-evaluation. I need to give it serious thought and work on it. For example, do I want to be more forgiving, more loving, more focused, more generous, more present, a better listener, or a better father?
Second, how do I achieve some of these goals? For example, If I want to be more generous, then I would need to find a way to give more. Or, if I want to be a better father, then I would need to pay more attention to my family and spend more time with them.
Third, what challenges do I want to overcome? For example, do I want to control my social surfing and allocate that time to something else, then I would have to come up with a plan to tackle that issue.
Change is not easy, and I hope that I can at least get a good start.
