Trump abandons medicaid, social security
Reneging on his campaign promises to protect Medicaid and social security, President Trump is proposing a budget that would cut the safety net for the poor, seniors and people with disability.
The proposed budget would slash Medicaid, which covers about 73 million people, including low-income households, people with disabilities and seniors. It would also Social Security Disability Insurance, which affects 10 million Americans. Also food stamp program would be reduced over the next a few years. In education, the proposed budget would eliminate federal subsidies for student loans while instituting a new income-driven payment program, according to NBC news.
The proposed budget deals a huge blow the poor, seniors and the disabled, and we urge the president and the Republican congress to rethink their proposal and restore the safety net programs that protect majority of Americans.
