U.S. inching closer toward war on Iran

The Trump administration is adopting a new broad language, holding Iran responsible for any actions against U.S. interest and allies in the Middle East, carried out by Iran directly or its proxies.

The new language came after a meeting between U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton and Israeli National Security Advisor Meir Ben-Shabbat recently. Both Bolton and the Israelis have been pushing very hard for a war with Iran.

The new language can be interpreted in a wide range of spectrum, which could mean that any actions by the Yemenis against the Saudis or actions by Hamas against Israel, or any action by anyone associated by Iran directly or indirectly is enough reason to attack Iran. At the same time, the U.S. is deploying additional military hardware in the Middle East.

Now, how does it benefit American national security? It does not.

In fact, any new war in the Middle East would raise the price of oil, destroying our economy and further isolating the United States.

All of these scenarios are reminiscent of the Iraq war, where the U.S. went to war based on misleading intelligence.

We urge the Trump administration to avoid a war with Iran and return to negotiations to solve the standoff. After all, Iran did not violate the nuclear agreement with the West; the U.S. left the agreement unilaterally. Click here for more ….
