Government shutdown ends for now
After three days of government shutdown, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, made a promise to the leading Democrats in the Senate to find a solution for sticking immigration issues. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., accepted the promise and got the Democrats to vote to reopen the federal government.
Schumer decision was the right thing to do. Now, McConnell needs to deliver.
Holding the government hostage because lawmakers cannot workout their differences is unacceptable. They were sent to Washington to make deals, work together and serve this country.
