Doomsday call in paradise

When the call to take shelter from an incoming ballistic missile hit cellphones, billboards and news outlets Saturday, residents and tourists raced to take shelter on this resort island. Panic sat in and despair loomed large in the entire state of Hawaii. But luckily it was a false alarm, and now as we found out that an employee hit the panic button twice by mistake and threw the entire population in chaos.
The only positive aspect of this scare is that it exposed the antiquated alarm system, which apparently needs updating.
This all comes at a time when President Trump and North Korea’s leader are starring down a nuclear show off.
What if happens in our state or city? Are we ready for any emergencies? Where do we go? These are questions we should be asking our leaders.
We do not need to wait until a false alarm sounds to check.
